About me

My route to being an animal therapist is not a conventional one!  My love of animals has always been a big part of my life, and I have had cats for as long as I can remember.

My early career was spent in the media world, working for television entertainment at both the BBC and ITV.  Although much of my spare time was spent volunteering with animal charities, the need to work in a more compassionate field led me to make a huge career change.

I left television to work in the press office of assistance dog charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.  This charity trains dogs to alert deaf people to sounds in the home, and it was during my time there that I really started to appreciate the wonderfully close bond that humans and animals can share, and how animals really tap into our emotions and feelings.  After nine years there I moved to another assistance dog charity, Canine Partners.  This organisation trains dogs to help people with physical disabilities, and here too the partnership between human and animal was inspirational.  This symbiotic relationship took my breath away, and started me on the next leg of my journey.

I wanted to be a small part of the bridge between animal and human, and a chance meeting with an animal healer led me to take a Diploma course in Animal Healing.  During that course I experienced communication on an emotional level with some of my animal case studies, and that was it ... I was hooked!

But it is not only about animals - it's about humans too.  Helping the animal's carer to understand their pet's behaviour will bring them closer together and build a renewed trust ensuring a deep, meaningful and ultimately joyous relationship.
